This project is an ultrasonic welding application for electronic tags. The customer required stable welding,
consistent product appearance and better control of the welding process. Based on the product structure and
welding requirements, we used a precision ultrasonic welding machine with multiple welding modes,
together with a custom ultrasonic horn and fixture.
| Product | Electronic Tags |

| Fixture | Custom holding fixture |
| Main Requirement | Stable welding, good appearance and repeatable results |
Electronic tags are relatively small plastic parts, so the welding process needs to be controlled carefully.
Too much ultrasonic energy may affect the product appearance or damage the plastic part, while insufficient
energy can result in incomplete welding.
For this application, the key was not simply to use higher ultrasonic power. The machine, ultrasonic horn,
fixture and welding parameters needed to work together to find a stable welding window for the actual product.
For electronic tag welding, welding consistency and process control are more important than simply
increasing machine power. This is why we used a precision ultrasonic welding machine with more
flexible process control.
The precision ultrasonic welding machine supports multiple welding modes, allowing us to adjust the welding
process according to the actual product condition and welding result. This provides more flexibility during
sample testing and process development.
For small plastic components such as electronic tags, the acceptable welding window can be relatively narrow.
Better control of the welding process helps reduce variation between parts and improves repeatability during production.
The ultrasonic horn and fixture were designed according to the actual electronic tag.
For small plastic parts, tooling is an important part of the ultrasonic welding process. The horn needs to transfer
ultrasonic vibration correctly to the welding area, while the fixture must hold the product securely and maintain
the correct position during welding.
For this project, the horn, fixture and machine parameters were tested together as one complete welding solution.
Before confirming the final welding settings, we carried out welding tests using the actual electronic tags.
During testing, the welding mode and process parameters were adjusted according to the product structure,
welding condition and final result.
The main targets were:
Stable welding results
Consistent welding position
Good product appearance
Repeatable welding quality
Actual part testing is important because ultrasonic welding parameters cannot be selected only from
the machine specifications. The plastic material, joint design, welding area and product structure can
all affect the final welding result.
The video below shows the actual precision ultrasonic welding machine, custom tooling and electronic
tag welding process during testing.
One of the advantages of this precision ultrasonic welding machine is the flexibility to use different
welding control modes according to the application.
Different plastic parts may require different welding strategies. For some applications, welding time
may be more suitable, while other parts may require a different control method to achieve better consistency.
For electronic tags, this flexibility makes it easier to compare different welding conditions during
sample testing and determine a more suitable process for the actual product.
Besides electronic tags, this type of precision ultrasonic welding solution can also be considered for:
Small plastic housings
Electronic components
Sensor housings
Plastic covers
Small automotive plastic parts
Other precision plastic assemblies
The final ultrasonic frequency, power, horn, fixture and welding process should always be selected according to
the actual product.
If you have electronic tags or other plastic parts that require ultrasonic welding, you can send us the product photos, drawings or physical samples for evaluation.
Our team can carry out sample testing and recommend the suitable ultrasonic welding machine, horn, fixture and welding process based on the actual welding result.
Send us your product details or samples to start a welding test.
